Lux Mater 2011
Lux Mater examines the origin of matter through the act of kneading dough. Filmed in close-up, the process is observed as a sequence of material transformations in which light, texture, and density become central elements.
Milk, egg yolk, and butter enter the flour and gradually merge, forming evolving structures within the mass. The domestic space shifts into a field of geological and bodily associations, where matter is shown in states of transition.
The rising dough is presented as an expanding internal process. Growth occurs incrementally, almost imperceptibly, suggesting formation as a temporal condition rather than a sudden event.
The artist’s hands intervene through measured, repetitive gestures. From this process emerge the bread figures, initially without defined features yet structurally present. The work focuses on transformation through touch and duration.
Lux Mater frames creation as a material procedure shaped by light, movement, and time. The maternal dimension is implied through process rather than representation, positioning making itself as an act of generative inquiry.
