B/N/R ORO (1990) – Beatriz Millar’s First Artistic Cycle

In 1990, Beatriz Millar inaugurated her first body of work as an exploration of drawing in its most fluid form. A brush dipped in black on a white background, punctuated by accents of red and gold, follows an instinctive gesture. Fine lines emerge in search of structure, with the hand directing the composition.

These works reflect early memories of her father’s pastry decorations—an environment both essential and ornamental. Line functions as structure, rhythm, and trace. At times, color is applied directly from the tube, resembling the pressure of a piping bag, forming raised surfaces that translate immediacy of gesture into material presence.
